A tile is a tiny image - usually 16x16 or 32x32 pixels - that repeats to fill large areas. One small square can build an entire world!
A single 16x16 tile is just 256 pixels. But repeated across a 100x100 grid, it fills 10,000 cells!
Instead of storing a unique image for every pixel of a world, you store a few tiles and a grid of numbers.
Every tile sits at a specific row and column. This grid system makes it easy to place, find, and change any tile instantly. Click cells to place tiles!
