Homeschool field trip log

The museum, the farm, the courthouse tour: log each trip with what your child learned and a photo. One click adds the hours to your attendance log and the trip to the portfolio. Print the whole log, a page for each trip, or a blank sheet your child fills in on the day.

Print buttons are beside the form.
Your information stays on your computer. Nothing you type or add here, trip photos included, is sent to us or stored on our servers. It is saved only in this browser, on this device, so it is here when you come back. Clearing your browser data erases it, and it does not follow you to another computer. Print it or save it as a PDF to keep a copy. Photos take room: a browser holds about five megabytes for this site, so add one picture per trip.

Field trips and your records

Whether a field trip counts toward required days or hours depends on your state; where a state counts them, our state guides say what it asks. The attendance log and the portfolio here are kept in this browser, so a trip goes to the child with the same name in each.

Reference information reviewed August 2026 against primary sources (statutes, NCAA and Common App published requirements). This is general information, not legal advice; requirements change, so verify anything load-bearing for your family against your state's current law.

Field trip questions

Do field trips count as school hours?

That depends on your state. Where a state counts days or hours, learning away from home usually counts like any other instruction, but check your state guide. Missouri, for one, asks that 400 of its 600 core hours happen at the regular home school location.

What should a child write after a field trip?

A few things they saw, what they learned and one question they still have, plus a drawing for younger children. The blank sheet here asks exactly that, and it makes a good portfolio sample.

Where do the photos go?

Nowhere but this browser. They are made smaller so they fit, and they print with the trip.
