Badge requirements: the 5 steps

  1. 1Guard your identityRead and quizYour identity online is every piece of information that says who you are. Guarding it means deciding who gets which pieces.
  2. 2Create a profile based on your interestsBuild and checkApps and advertisers build a profile of you from what you like, watch and search. Build one yourself and see what it gives away.
  3. 3Learn about metadataRead and investigateMetadata is data about data. A photo, a message or a document can carry facts you never see on screen.
  4. 4Shop for apps in a life-sized app storeShop smartBefore you install an app, read what it asks for. Each permission is a key to part of your phone.
  5. 5Inventory your digital presenceTake stockYour digital presence is everything online about you: accounts, posts, photos others posted, and old profiles you forgot.

Work on a computer. The apps need a keyboard and a bigger screen than a phone: a laptop, desktop or Chromebook. You can pay here and open the emailed link on the computer.
