BotForge lesson plans
Each one is a class period with everything to run it: a teacher plan, a student worksheet, an exit ticket with answers, and the standards it meets. Students need no account, and a free class saves their work.
BotForge: Keep the Spinner Spinning
BotForge opens on a spinner bot whose blade empties its battery in under 7 seconds, and then cuts out mid-fight. Students read three numbers the app shows, the battery, its recharge and the blade's power draw, and work out the run time themselves: the battery divided by what is lost each second. Then they spend as little of the 200 kg weight limit as they can on battery cells that keep the blade spinning for at least 15 seconds.
On Teachers Pay TeachersBotForge: Program a Bot Brain
A spinner bot's brain is six rules, each a condition and an action, run top to bottom many times a second, and a practice arena shows its battery and spinner live. Students add a rule to save battery, find that it only works below the rule it overrules, and then find its catch: the spinner arrives without its spin. They fix it with a two-part condition, and judge the fix by the arena's own readouts.
