Drone Simulator lesson plans
Each one is a class period with everything to run it: a teacher plan, a student worksheet, an exit ticket with answers, and the standards it meets. Students need no account, and a free class saves their work.
Drone Simulator: Program a Drone Through the Rings
Students run a block program that flies a drone through six rings and lands. They find out that each fly to block is a place in the sky, three numbers for left and right, forward and height, and that the drone goes exactly where those numbers say. By the end, they can change one number, say beforehand which ring will stay orange, and fix a classmate's broken program by reading it.
On Teachers Pay TeachersDrone Simulator: Find the Red Pad with a Sensor
Students start with a program that guesses: take off, fly forward 200, land. It misses the red pad by 179, and the obvious fix, 120, misses too: the drone slides past the distance while it slows down. They replace the guess with a loop that flies a little at a time until the downward camera sees red, and the drone lands on the pad. By the end, they can explain why a guess tuned for one pad misses as soon as the pad moves, and a program that checks a sensor does not.
